The Los Angeles Dodgers have obtained Joe Blanton from the Philadelphia Phillies, for a player to be named later.

The Dodgers acquired the eight-year MLB vet today, for what they say will be a player to be named later.

The move was able to go down, post trade deadline because the Phillies placed Blanton on waivers yesterday, and the Dodgers picked him up. The Phillies then pulled Blanton off the waiver wire, and completed a deal with the Dodgers, to send Blanton back to the west coast where he spent the first four and a half years of his career with the Oakland Athletics.

Blanton in his fourth full season in Philadelphia has 8-9 with a 4.59 ERA, and 1.19 WHIP. Heavy B figures to fit somewhere at the back end of the Dodgers rotation.
