According to the Denver Post, the Rockies have dealt IF, Marco Scutaro to division rival, San Francisco for Charlie Culberson.

Scutaro, who I wrote recently about, is scheduled to earn $6M this season and has approximately $2.2M left this season. It is unsure if any money will be exchanged. He holds a .271/.324/.359 with 4 homers and 30 runs driven in over 90 games.

Scutaro was acquired by the Rockies back in January from the Red Sox in exchange for Clayton Mortenson.

Now who is this Charlie Culberson fellow?

Culberson, 23, is a 2007 first round draft choice (51st overall), and has played in 6 games for the big league club this season. Throughout his minor league career, though, he has a line of .258/.309/.379 with 42 HR and 259 RBIs, 10 of those, however, coming through 90 games at Triple-A.

Culberson does have some speed as he stole 25 bases in 2010 for the Giants A+ team.

He is currently ranked outside the Top 100 prospects according to Baseball America.

Journeyman infielder Marco Scutaro heads out to the Bay now, to replace Freddy Sanchez, who is out for the season.
